Devdor Village
Pre-project Situation
The 120 household in Devdor village currently are using the water from the small channel as a source of the drinking water which is located 2 kms away from the village.
The water in the Channel is not safe, as it can have a lot of microorganisms, that can serve as a cause of the infectious diseases. Since children more tend to drink the water without boiling it, they are the one that mostly get sick with diarrhea. The water gets muddy during Summer, as glaciers melt a lot during the hot weather. In addition, it is very hard to fetch water during the winter, as it is unsafe to go down to the Channel, when it freezes around.
Project Scope
Installation of an insulated 75mm and 63mm diameter polyethene pipeline
Expected Benefits
The project will benefit the villagers in following ways.
1) It will significantly reduce the number of infectious diseases spread amongst the residents of the village, specifically children.
2) It will give the opportunity to the villagers to practice sanitation and hygiene measures at a better level, without worrying of the availability of the water
3) The parents will have more time to prepare meals for their children
4) The children will have more time to spend on their studies and other activities
