Tabarsem Village

Pre-project Situation

Currently, 11 Ha of land, which is very scares in GBAO region and especially Roshtqala district, is not being cultivated due to unavailability of irrigation water. The lands which are not cultivated are distributed among households of two neighboring Tabarsem and Sezhd villages. There is a river flowing through Roshtqala district, but it is not possible to irrigate the lands with this water is the village is located above the river for about 110 m.

Project Scope

Construction of 850 m of open ditch and Installation of a 1150 m of PVC pipeline diameter 90 mm to irrigate 12 hectares of new farm lands (shown above) in Tabarsem and Sezhd Villages.

Planned Pipeline

Spring Source

Expected benefits

After the pipeline is installed, Tabarsem and Sezh will cultivate as communal farms.

The pipeline will also enable the adjacent Tabarsem Village to farm more area.

Between the 2 Vilages, they have about 12 Hactars of arable land which will be used for cropping wheat and potato, which are the main staple crops. In addition, small portions of it will be cropped with carrots, onions and etc.

The households will be able to cover their need for wheat and vegetables, and in case if the harvest will be more than the household’s need, they will be able to sell it to near by village.
