Project 103, Donated cost: US$13,800 – Installation of a pipeline to provide Budun village, 35 families, Vanj District, access to safe drinking water from spring source, 5750 meters up a mountain.

 Funded by: Dhananis

Budun Village

Pre-project Situation

The 35 household that reside in the Budun village currently are using the water from the river as a source of the drinking water. The water in the river is not safe, as it can have a lot of microorganisms, that can serve as a cause of the infectious diseases. Since children more tend to drink the water without boiling it, they are the one that mostly get sick with diarrhea. As it noted by the village nurse, diarrhea is actually the main reason for anemia amongst children of the village and the whole region itself. The water gets muddy during Summer, as glaciers melt a lot during the hot weather, the water brings a lot of mud with it down to the river. In addition, it is very hard to fetch water during the winter, as it is unsafe to go down to the river, when it freezes around.
