Project 101, Cost: US$8,450 – Installation of a pipeline to provide Dashtishavd village, 18 families, Vanj District, access to safe drinking water from spring source, 3900 meters up a mountain.
Joint Funding:
Dhananis funded US$5,450 and Mithooo and Nabat Gillani from Calgary voluntarily funded US$3,000.

Pre-project Situation
In summer:
Water from the river is used for drinking purposes. The water in the river is not suitable for drinking. During the summer the water is highly used for washing also, which leaves stains on the clothes and very hard for the skin to be used.
In winter:
Due to the cold weather some points of the river freeze. Due to this the fetching location becomes farther as only some points for fetching water are available.

Installation of a 63 mm diameter polyethylene pipeline from the spring source, 3.9 km away from the village
Expected benefits
This piped access to potable water will benefit them in 5 different ways:
1) The villagers will not suffer from waterborne diseases
2) It will free up more time to work on their farmland during spring, summer, and fall
3) every day, they will have more time to cook meals
4) in winter, it will give the parents more time to spend with the
kids on doing their homework, and
5) Kids will have more time to study and do other activities
