Project 04 (donation Cost U$1091):In Riddeh, Rushan District, UBB purchased for all families, winter clothing and shoes
Funded by: Dhananis
Village of Riddeh
Background of the Village
Riddeh is a village of 8 displaced families. Around 2011, their original village was completely destroyed by mudflows. So, they were then relocated to this place.
The Village received (free from the Government) 2 ha land to settle down and farm, and a German donated money to assist in building their current houses.
Pre-Project Situation
However, when we visited the Village, we noticed they still lacked many basic needs.
The families did not have warm clothing for winter . Over there, temperatures in winter drop to -40 degrees centigrade, now and then.
Their timber roofs had big gaps between the timber planks.
Wood-fired heaters they used to heat homes were very old and there was not adequate ventillation for the smoke.
They did not have adequate kitchen utensils and dishes.
They had no reliable source of income to buy food.
Project Scope
So as documented in this project 4 and projects 5, 6,7 and 8, we donated to them: 1) clothings for winter and shoes, 2) new bigger ovens 3) drop ceilings to install under their gaping timber roofs 4) new more efficient wood-fired heaters, and 5) all the assistance (ploughing, fertilizers, manual farm tools, etc.) to develop a collective farm.
Items donated in this project
We purchased for all of them the following items and quantities that they requested:
Warm clothing: 24 coats and jackets, 15 pairs of regular shoes, and 12 pairs of masi and kalush for women.
Feedback from the Village
It is much warmer to walk around with the clothes that were provided. The clothes are good quality and comfortable to use during the cold winter that we have.
