Pre-Project Situation

Currently, as shown below, the villagers have to bring drinking water from the well which is 650m away from the village.

This problem becomes becomes even harder during their severely cold winter season.

Project Scope

 To dig another well , about 20m  deep, very close to the village, at the location shown below.

HfP will provide:  Well hand pump, Cement, Armature,Wood sheet, Iron sheet.

The Village will do the construction/Installation.

Expected Benefits

The Well will be Located very close to the houses, which will allow the households to reduce the time and power used for bringing drinking water from Well located far from the village, especially during winter times when the temperature reaches -40 to -45.

How deep is the well?

The well is 28 miter

 

  1. How does the water from the well taste.

The taste of the water is as regular fresh water.

 

  1. Does the taste change in different seasons

No.

 

  1. Does it have any color

No.

Do use any water from this well for washing?

Yes, the water is used for washing clothes, dishes and other hygiene purposes.

 

(if YES) does the water leave any stains on the clothes?

No.

 

  1. Is the water hard (hard water= soap and water do not create many foams (like when you are washing hands or showering)

 No.

 

  1. Well water contain bacteria, nitrates, total dissolved salts and alkaline level, etc. So testing it regularly to see how safe it is to drink is important.

 

When water tastes bad, smells bad or has a color, it indicates that water needs to be tested by a specialist from a nearby government. office

 

  1. can you plan to get this water tested, once a year by a government specialist?

 The government specialists check the water regularly by themselves.

 

  1. We have given you a TDS meter to test for other dissolved chemical salts.

 

  1. Can you plan to test the tap water with this device regularly during each month?

Yes, we are testing the water regularly (end of each month).

To judge the results, use the table below:

 

According to World Health Organization:

TDS level less than 300 mg/litre is considered as excellent,

                 between 300 and 600 mg/liter is good,

                 between 600-900 is fair,

                 between 900 – 1200 is poor and

                 more than 1200 mg/liter is unacceptable

 

  1. Have you been using this device regularly

Yes, we are testing the water regularly (end of each month).

 

  1. What kind of average meter readings you get from this device?

In average the TDS level is 55mg/liter.

 

  1. Do you always have enough water in the well or do you sometimes have to wait for more water to flow into the wall?

No, there is always enough water.

 

  1. How do you protect your well from contamination from outside the well?

The Well is protected, closed with cement from all the sides. There is no access for any contaminations from outside to the Well itself. The access to water is provided by manual pump through water pipe.

 

  1. is there anything else we can do to make your well operation better?

No, it is fully operating.
